This wasn’t just fly tying. It was storytelling. It was reclamation. It was community.
The tables were alive with color — shimmering marabou, bold hackle, spools of thread rolling like tiny wheels of possibility. People leaned in close, hands steady, eyes focused, tying flies that looked like small sculptures. Some were seasoned tiers, others were touching a vise for the first time, but everyone shared the same spark of curiosity and joy.
And at the center of it all stood Jason Osborne, the owner of the Portland Fly Shop — a man whose support for Love Is King has become a cornerstone of our work in Portland. Jason doesn’t simply open his doors; he opens his heart, his time, and his space to help build a more inclusive outdoor.
