We’re honored to share that our founder, Chad Brown, was featured in the first episode of Oprah Winfrey’s new podcast series, Life Is Better With Dogs, created in partnership with The Farmer’s Dog.
This feature was inspired by Chad’s personal journey as a U.S. Navy veteran navigating PTSD, and the healing partnership with his service dog, Axe. It is Chad’s lived experience — his resilience, his creative voice, and his leadership — that ultimately shaped the mission and values of Love Is King.
While this episode centers on Chad’s story, Oprah and her team at Harpo Productions also highlight the organization he founded. They recognize how his personal path of healing and purpose flows directly into the work we do: creating safe, equitable access to the outdoors and empowering diverse communities, veterans, and youth.
We are grateful for this national recognition of our founder’s journey and the mission that grew from it.
As the founder of Love Is King, I want to share a meaningful moment that recently unfolded — one that speaks to the heart of why this organization exists.
I was invited to be the first guest on Oprah Winfrey’s new podcast series, Life Is Better With Dogs, to share my personal journey as a U.S. Navy veteran navigating PTSD, and the healing I found through my service dog, Axe. This opportunity came to me because of my lived experience — the path I’ve walked, the challenges I’ve faced, and the healing I continue to pursue.
My story is my own.
But it is also the soil from which Love Is King grew.
Oprah and her team recognized that the mission of Love Is King is inseparable from the life that shaped it. The values we stand for — courage, healing, belonging, and equitable access to the outdoors — come directly from the breath I carry into the world, and the purpose that called me to create this organization.
I’m grateful that this feature not only honors my journey, but also shines a light on the work we do together. It’s a reminder that when we lead with authenticity and heart, our stories can open doors for the communities we serve.
